FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long is a stretch session?
Fascial Stretch Sessions can range anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the needs of a client. It is ideal to have a full-body stretch session, as all fascia is connected and can influence muscle contractions and movement patterns.
What to wear to your Fascial Stretch Therapy Session?
Clients are stretched fully clothed and asked to wear comfortable loose-fitting clothing, such as athletic wear to allow for full ranges of movement throughout the body. Socks are required.
How often should I receive fascial stretch therapy?
Although the benefits of fascial stretch can be felt immediately after only one session, it is advised initially to have subsequent sessions weekly for the first 3-4 weeks to achieve and maintain joint mobility and muscle flexibility. At this time, treatment can become more for maintenance and decrease to biweekly or monthly sessions.
Treatment frequency also depends on the clients’ needs and activity level, some clients require weekly fascial stretches if their work or recreational activities are demanding or repetitive.
What does a fascial stretch session feel like?
Most importantly, a stretch session should be relaxing. You will feel pulling or a deep stretch, but it should not be painful.
Most clients fall asleep during their sessions or feel as though they need a nap afterward.
When should I get stretched?
It is recommended to get stretched following a workout/game/physical activity or on a day with no activity. It is NOT recommended before physical activity.
How does fascial stretch different from other manual therapies?
Fascial Stretch therapy uses a sequence of table-based stretches that incorporate traction and oscillation to target fascia and joint capsules. Fascial Stretch therapy takes joints and muscle groups through full ranges of motion to optimize mobility.
